Onondaga Hill Pet Boarding
Compassionate and Professional Animal Care
Our boarding facility is veterinary supervised and staffed by trained Pet Care Team Members. While you are away, you can have peace of mind and assurance your pet will be properly cared for. We ensure your furry friend will be treated in a compassionate and knowledgeable manner.

At Onondaga Hill Pet Boarding we do not provide overnight care, although all boarders are monitored closely and cared for throughout the day. The Pet Care Team treats all boarding guests as if they were their own pets, taking the time to get to know each individual and what he or she prefers. Staff members take daily behavioral notes on each pet. For each pet in our care, we closely monitor food and water intake, fluctuations in weight, and bodily functions. When your pet returns for their next stay, you can be ensured that our staff has knowledge of your dog's or cat's tendencies, preferences, and overall health.

Vaccine & Fecal Requirements
For the health and safety of all of our boarders, we require all pets to be up-to-date on vaccines. Vaccines and fecal must be up-to-date no later than 2 weeks prior to the boarding reservation. If your pet does not receive its veterinary care at our hospital please have proof of vaccination and negative stool sample sent to our office prior to boarding. Records can be faxed to (315)478-2432 or e-mailed to stackteam@stackvethospital.com.

  • All dogs must have current vaccinations against Rabies, DHPP (Canine Distemper Combo Vaccine) and Kennel Cough (Bordetella/Intra Trac).
  • All cats must have current vaccinations against Rabies and FVRCP (Feline Distemper Combo Vaccine).
  • We require all pets to have had a negative fecal sample to help protect your pet against intestinal parasites. We require that the negative sample be tested within the last 12 months prior to boarding, so that it is up-to-date throughout the boarding reservation.

The Canine Influenza vaccine for H3N8 & H3N2 is recommended, but not required for boarding. For more information on Canine Influenza or to discuss if your dog should be vaccinated, please contact your veterinarian.

Feeding

Outdoor/Play Time
  • When your pet boards with us, you may either bring your own food or we can provide your pet with the food we carry here at Stack Veterinary Hospital, Hills Science Diet.
  • We offer a variety of dry and wet food. This includes kibble for small breeds and a bland diet that helps calm the digestive system.
  • For any pets with allergies or on a special diet we advise that they eat their own food to maintain their diet.
  • Each pet receives an individualized diet, the same as it would be prepared at home.
  • We have a large supply of blankets, beds, and cots. Our staff will make sure that your pet will be supplied with comfortable and thick bedding.
  • Every morning each boarder gets fresh bedding ensuring their suite stays sanitary and fresh.
  • For those that are elderly or arthritic, we have many comforters and beds that will support your pet's body.
  • Our boarding dogs are taken outside 3-4 times a day, individually and off leash in our fenced in yard.
  • While outside, we offer a variety of toys for your pet to play with. For all boarders, enrichment while outside can help dogs relax and bond with our staff.
  • Our boarders are never left unsupervised while outside. The Pet Care Team staff spends time with each boarder while in the yard, giving them the attention and mental stimulation they deserve.
  • Dogs from the same family can go outside together. During this time they can play together and enjoy each others company.

Medications

If your pet is on medication that is to be given while he/she is boarding, we require all medications to come in their originally prescribed vials or packaging. We will  not accept medication in plastic bags or daily pill containers.

Picture Updates

At your request we will send you picture messages of your pet while they are in our care. Pictures are sent every 2-3 days during their stay. If you have any questions, concerns, or would like an update, please call our office.
Other Services
Before your pet goes home, we can trim their nails, express their anal glands and/or groom/bathe them at your request. If your pet requires special accomodations, please notify Andrea prior to boarding.
Pets that require extra care
Our Pet Care Team makes sure to closely monitor any canine or feline guests that need extra care. This includes senior pets, and those that may have health concerns such as diabetes. Teaming up with the veterinarians and technicians of Stack Veterinary Hospital, any concerns that arise with boarders are addressed immediately and appropriately.

All senior boarders are provided with bedding that supports their body. This includes cots, thick bedding, and beds. Whenever possible our elderly guests stay in the quietest area of the kennel. This ensures they remain in a low stress state. Dogs that have difficulties with incontinence will be walked first and receive a clean up bath, keeping them comfortable and clean.

For any pets with major health concerns or elderly guests that appear stressed, we suggest they board in our hospital area. This ensures that they will be more closely monitor by our veterinary technicians who are closeby throughout the day. It is a requirement that diabetic pets board in the hospital ward. The Pet Care Team may recommend your pet remains in the hospital area during their stay, or you may request hospital boarding when booking a reservation.
